Traditional model catalog

It would be nice to have standardized images of traditional models (following the work began David Petty (, but with a unique number) that would serve as a reference for the study and determination the origins and antiquity of them.
Thus, for instance, if you refer a number from "cat. Petty of Traditional Models", we would know that the figure would be the "Salt Cellar" and in which publications and from what year we are aware of it.

This is a great idea. It would be especially interesting to record the dates when the models were first published. Unfortunately there are not many people who have access to the very old books on paperfolding, but David Petty's collection would be a good starting point, and even if we started with fairly recent publications the references could always be updated whenever earlier source are found.
