Here's a way to make some of the Platonic Solids from business cards, using a technique similar to that of the playing card cube earlier in this thread:

Also note the correction to my previous post (change of URL).

this is a useful link - I'm working on a possible project of business-card origami!

Back to the cube made from playing cards used to make smoke rings, as mentioned previously by Michel. There is another illustration in "La récréation en famille" by Tom Tit (Arthur Good) (1903). Sorry, I can't work out how to include an image of the page, so you'll have to click on the link:

http://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/bpt6k202986r/f41.image

See pages 35 to 37. He tells you to use "six vieilles cartes à jouer ou six cartes de visite" ("six old playing cards or business cards") but doesn't explain how to make the cube - apparently it is assumed that readers will know it already.

Well done Juan - those are the pages. So if you attach a file that contains an image, does the image appear as part of your post? I think Nick explained this to me before, but I'd forgotten how to do it.

Tom Tit explains the cube with cards in another of his works: "Pour amuser les Petits ou les Joujoux que l'on peut faire soi même" (Librairie Vuibert, 1919).
There is a first edition of 1893 in E. Plon, Nourrit et Cie
