The history of paperfolding

Origami in japanese Fine Art

Thanks a lot, everybody for the links and attachments.
About the book in "A Japanese Paper-folding Classic" .I bought it a while ago in amazon.com. The price was much cheaper than the one on the selling market now, so I must have been very lucky..
Here are illustrations of ukyio-e with wrappers and folded figures, from Hosoda Eishi and Hiroshige.
Hosoda Eishi ( Japan 1756-1829)painted mainly women´spaces in a very elegant style. Among one of his painting is "The meeting of seven women who represent the seven Gods of Luck". The boat has a pointed prow as a form of a Japanese Phoenix also called Hôô.
In the centre, are sitting two women, one holding a paper boat, and the other one a paper crane
Perhaps the young woman holding a paper boat is a metaphor of Ebisu ( god of fishers, good fortune and commerce). Fukurokuju ( god of happiness wealth and longevity), would be the one holding a paper crane.

It´s all in french, with explanations... .I tried to zoom in ,the part with the two women holding paper figures, but the picture got blurred (probably in low-res.).

To be continued with ukyio-e and wrappers..

Here are the ukyio-e with wrappers from Hosoda Eishi(1) and Hiroshige(2).
The one from Eishi is part of "The serie Five festivals à la mode."
Apart of japanese beauties, they depicted folded wrappers for festival days.
Of the five great festivals celebrated under the old lunar calendar four are referred to in Brossman´s book "A Japanese Paper Folding Classic"
