Nick Robinson : One : Gobbladisk gobl023

The first "proper" collection of original music I've released. It wasn't conceived as an album, but when I had enough tracks I was pleased with, that's what it became. Recorded entirely at "Seaview" - my modest studio at home, it's largely the result of mixing live tracks with looped fragments, using Acid Pro software.

The way the music biz works these days means it's not really economical to run off 500 copies and try to recoup the cost, rather it's "burn on demand", so every copy has that home-made feel to it taking one back on gently strummed zithers to the days of Rough Trade et al. Here's a track by track guide with mp3 samples.

Title Listen Time Comments!
4AD 2:00 dedicated to my friend the late Arthur Day
Bells 3:06 a visit to Gran in the Bridlington bungalow in the sky
Strobe 4:32 just the one note, resampled into a mini symphony
Spurn 4:43 an recreation of Spurn Point, East Yorkshire
Otherland 9:04 a long, dark, live improvisation
Come and Go  4:00 it comes, it goes!
Red Zoo 5:08 a digeridoo through a fuzz-face, playing the last post
Room of Bright Carvings 4:01 a slowly evolving piece
Weaveworld 5:50

a dark and sombre soundscape

Steve Fellows (Comsat Angels & fellow noodler) says "Areas of great beauty. Wonderful warm tones. Breathtaking in places".
